In this installation, I address the shyness and weariness that people with obvious physical disabilities experience daily when they are stared at by others, often with curiosity and concern, and sometimes without sensitivity. Inspired by a photograph of an un-named man on crutches by Walker Evans, I asked Julie Searls to photograph me in a similar gesture. My photo and the photo of the Man on Crutches were then enlarged and printed onto glass panels and hung with wires. Between the two photos hangs two empty glass cubes that represent the volume of each of my legs.
