MOTHER AND CHILD

I sculpted Mother and Child from the mud banks of a stream. The mother is sculpted from the soil of the stream bank, the branch is her hair. Alongside her hip is the infant formed by two rounded stones. As the stream rises it will wash away the mother's form leaving behind the child which because it is made of stone will remain. This is a piece I dedicated to honor my mother who sacrificed and cared for me and made sure I would be strong and continue on.
