OFFERING

OFFERING, a site-specific installation at Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. Parallel to the well-traveled pathway between the dormitories and studios, the line of boulders is an iconic landmark of the school. Boulders were chosen as a metaphor for the earth which is the source of our food. This work transmutes these familiar forms into shimmering, translucent emissaries, suffused with light. They embody a heartfelt message of gratitude and hope. Offering is a collection of boulder casts created entirely of edible materials. Each cast form is an offering of nourishment for our environment. Delivered into the lake, the elements soften and dissolve within a few hours, providing food for all life forms. In this process my Offering becomes a homage, as well as a sincere supplication to our Earth. I offer my art to awaken in the human heart a deep love for Earth, our only home.
